The Chosen Ones @ The Waldorf Hotel
Posted in Fashion, ReviewsI had to take two buses to get to The Chosen Ones vintage sale at The Waldorf Hotel, located in a dodgy neighborhood on the edge of Commercial Drive, which took me out of my geographical comfort zone. First off, the flyer for the event says selector’s, not selectors, which is incorrect, and immediately triggered my grammar OCD. But, back to the sale– it just seemed like the pieces on sale were ‘the chosen ones’ they were looking to get rid of. I kept wondering where the diamonds in the rough were hiding. Very misleading considering the event title suggests that the best shit from each vendor will be present. Instead all I found were ill-fitting vests, oversized sweaters, and unflattering dresses. I forgot to mention that the racks were displayed in dimly-lit, long, narrow corridors– a claustrophobe’s nightmare–even I was getting a little anxious. The sale wasn’t as mediocre as I’m making it sound, I did happen to find a pair of charming black kitten heels that fit like a fucking glove! It was an omen. My journey was indeed worth it–these shoes had sent for me. I suppose that’s just the way it goes with vintage sales, they can be totally hit or miss.
