An Island

If you have ever heard of the famous Takeaway Shows that gloriously litter the realms of YouTube this might be fun.

On February 3rd, at W2 Storeum, there will be a screening of this film, An Island, by filmmaker Vincent Moon.

Moon is an independent filmmaker from Paris and the founder of a website, La Blogotheque. Since 2006, Moon has been making Les Concerts à Emporter (or Takeaway Shows), with bands such as Bon Iver, the Spinto Band, Arcade Fire, Sigur Rós, Local Natives, Phoenix, and Beirut, to name a few. These shows consist of an impromptu performance in an unlikely setting.

The filmmaker has now gone on to make an entire film created on the basis that it were to run the length of an album, and consist of performances, explorations and collaborations featuring Efterklang, an 8 piece band, on an island off the Danish coast.

An Island is an unconventional music performance film and an abstract documentary about a band and an island. The running time is 50 minutes” (via W2 Storeum).

The film screening will be at W2 Storeum at 8pm. Admission is free.

I have been checking out the take-away shows for years and they are amazing!! I think the best one is fleet foxes singing blue ridge mountains or the band Satine singing on a rooftop as the sun sets in Paris.
