Yesterday some of us Futurists checked out Fasin Frank, Main Street’s latest vintage-lover’s paradise. We might as well have been kids in a candy store.

It’s no secret that Vancouverites love their vintage goods. When Sarah Silverman came to town last year, she began her set by saying, “I bought this shirt from True Value Vintage.” The crowd went wild. Although I certainly enjoy thrill-of-the-hunt adventures in Value Village/Salvo/SPCA stores (there’s one neighborhood thrift store in particular that I refuse to blog about because it’s a gold mine, and will stay that way dammit), sometimes it’s nice to leave it up to the professionals. That’s why the Futurists are so stoked on Fasin Frank, owned by amiable brothers and certified treasure hunters Drew and Jessie. Take a look at some of these treasures:

Drew showed us around the impressive space (full of seemingly endless racks of crazysexycool gear) and gave us his story as well as that of some of his favorite pickins, from dead stock sneaks to WWII-era soldiers’ souvenir jackets. These guys travel from Toronto to L.A in order to provide a variety of clothing and accessories; this shows in the vibrant store, where vintage streetwear chills next to racks of new labels. Drew and Jessie certainly know how to play the vintage game, from wholesaling to multiple retail projects; they also have an endearing sense of humor. Ever wanted to see an Urkel action figure? Neon tie-died jumpsuit? Fasin Frank’s got em.

Drew and Jessie’s entrepreneurial skill and passion for fashion is certainly to the shopper’s benefit, as the price is right (but loyal to a rare piece’s value) and there is plenty to choose from, with frequent switchovers and new stock always moving through. I picked up a lovely nautical-esque tank+tweed dress, but Hartbraker has an even better success story: within ten minutes, he found the perfect Coca-Cola shirt that has been eluding him for years.

Now open, with the grand opening on July 3rd, Fasin Frank is a Futurist favorite and is located on 2425 Main, just north of Broadway.
Good times!
